5 Minute Fridays: Real

I am back after a week vacation to San Diego!!  It was amazing, but I will save some of the details for a later post.  Today I am going to try something new that my good friend and fellow Kirowyf told me about; 5 Minute Fridays.

On Fridays over at The Gypsy Mama, a group of people gather to share on  a single topic what five minutes buys them. Just five minutes. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
Here are the rules (yes, there are rules)
1.  Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Please visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments.

REAL:
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of real is food.  I am all about having a diet filled with real whole foods.  Today the grocery stores are full of foods that are all about convenience and while I understand how these products make life easier, is this the area of our life's where we should be cutting corners?

I go into the lunch room to make my lunch and every person has some frozen "meal" that sits in the microwave for 5+ minutes.  There is no way this is real food people!  Highly processed, loaded with sodium and just because it says healthy on the cover does not mean instantly that it actually healthy.   Read the label, do you know what you are putting into your body to fuel it!  Nutrition is essential for life and it is one that I don't want to take short cuts on!  Now don't get me wrong everyone loves some short of junk food, but let's keep it real (pun intended).

STOP...

I think this exercise every Friday will be good for me because today was a rough start.  I might get better with time ;)

  1. I know what you mean? It is kinda sad how easy it's gotten to eat out of convenience- so much that we really don't think about it like we should. - By the way GREAT JOB!!! And welcome to 5 Minute Friday! :)
